Proper Thinking About Sexuality

How should we think, and how should we NOT think, about sexuality? In this sermon we learn about keeping one’s self holy with regard to sexuality. From Ephesians 5:3-5, the commands of Paul include putting off the world’s corrupted view of sexuality and taking up the Bible’s view of intimacy as a wonder and a gift. Rather than treating God’s good gift crudely and making filthy that which God intends as a blessing, we are to revere the marriage union and to be thankful. In this sermon we lean that the “marriage act” was given to accomplish 3 chief ends – to be a pleasurable blessing to husband and wife, to procreate, and to teach us about Christ and the church. But what about those of us who have fallen? Where is the hope? Join us as we look to Christ together about this pertinent topic.

Ephesians 5:3-5

But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. (ESV)
