Sufficiency of Scripture

We take the Bible as our authoritative and sufficient source of instruction for all of life and godliness. We strive to make the Bible the basis for all that we do and are always looking to the word of God, seeking to reform ourselves according to the plain teachings of Scripture.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. (ESV)

[16] All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, [17] that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Confessional

In support of a high view of Scripture, we are a confessional church and take the 1689 London Baptist Confession as the best summary of our core beliefs. As innovative and liberal views of Scripture spread around us, the 1689 LBC helps anchor us to solid and historic understandings of the Scriptures that have been the lifeblood of the church for centuries. We also appreciate this declaration authored by the National Center for Family Integrated Churches as a timely statement about the Biblical order and unity of the family. The culture at large is actively undermining a Biblical understanding of the family, and this declaration helps the church focus on defending against this cultural encroachment.

Christ-Centered, Expository Preaching

We believe that the pattern of scripture teaches us that preaching is to proclaim Christ. Whether from the Old or New Testament, we preach the word of God, going verse by verse through sections or whole books of the Bible, with periodic theme-oriented preaching – always governed by the Word. We believe that the story of all of the Bible points to the power of the risen Savior, and we intend to preach the word of God to its fullest and deepest extent that we can.

Missions

We encourage support of missions both domestically and internationally. We encourage families to support missionaries privately, and we set aside a portion of our funds to support missions as a church. Currently our congregations supports a missionary family in Brazil, and we actively support and participate in direct, street-level mission work in our community. We also regularly equip the congregation with training and materials for evangelism.

Church Government

Our church proclaims the Lordship of Jesus Christ, as such He is the head of the church. In His wisdom, He has chosen men to shepherd His flock. We recognize our pastors (elders) as under-shepherds, subject to Christ, accountable to the flock, and ruled by the Word. As office holders, they are called by God and affirmed by the congregation, to lead according the the Scripture’s commands, holding to a strict subscription to the 1689 LBC. We also recognize God’s gracious provision of deacons as the second office given to the church, to serve and meet the physical needs of the body. We recognize the vital wisdom of the congregation in decision making.

Age Integration

We do not systematize age segregation, but encourage families to worship together and fellowship together. Our church has no age-specific programs for youth, singles or seniors. Instead, we worship together.
